This notice describes how HZL deals with personal information of individuals that interact with HZL – this includes representatives of our suppliers/ vendors, customers, candidates, investors, sponsors and business partners; users of the HZL website and mobile application (“apps”); shareholders; and job applicants.

For the purposes of this notice, “personal information” means any information about an identified or identifiable person. This includes where you can be identified, directly or indirectly, including by reference to an identifier (for example, a name or email address, or an online identifier such as a unique device identification number). We use the words “process” and “processing” to describe the various things we may do with your personal information. Recruitment related information – such as your name, gender, job title, photograph and date of birth, home and business address, email address, telephone number, qualifications, employment history, interests, types of roles you are interested in, your work application form and resume or CV. If you progress through the interview process, we may also collect interview notes, references, results of any online tests and background checks (including criminal records checks), your work visa, government issued identification and other information to verify your identity and right to work.
e-Business information – this includes information required to provide access to HZL e-Business websites or portals (such as name, phone no., email address, date of birth, gender, address, health or medical information, login information, IP addresses), and records of your use of those websites or portals.
Usage information – information we collect when you use our websites or apps, such as server log information (your IP address, browser type, operating system, browser language, time zone, access times and any referring addresses) and location information.
Other information – this includes information about access and visit to HZL premises (such as name, address, phone no., email id, government issued identification document, and in some cases, your biometric, blood type, and information collected through CCTV), information collected for various CSR community initiatives, communications with you (including complaints or concerns raised by you or any feedback or survey responses that you provide to us) and other information you voluntarily provide to HZL.

Processing of Children’s data:

We do not knowingly collect, use, or process personal information from children under the age of 18. If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that your child’s personal information has been inadvertently collected through our website, please contact us immediately. You may reach out to us via email or write to us at the address provided at the end of this Privacy Notice, and we will take appropriate steps to remove the information from our records.

We process personal information as part of our business operations, including managing contractual relationships, recruitment, safety and security, and legal compliance. Additionally, we handle some personal information with your consent or when required to fulfill legal obligations. Below are the legal bases for processing your personal information:

a) Our legitimate interests

For health, safety and security reasons (including CCTV), when you visit any of our sites.
To develop community relationships and fulfill CSR obligations as well as manage and report on CSR Activities.
Quarterly releases, annual reports, internal reporting and conferences.
For the purposes of undertaking share transactions, processing dividend payments, and facilitating communications with shareholders.
To comply with financial reporting and legal obligations.
To deal with complaints relating to misconduct.
To manage logistics and supply chain.

b) Consent

To engage with you in person, via email, through our website, or through the “Contact Us” page, as well as to facilitate your participation in events we organize.
For health, safety, and security purposes, when you visit any of our HZL locations, we will handle your Personal Information (like medical checks) to meet health and safety or security standards, ensuring the safety of both you and us.
If you agree to have your photo taken at any HZL event, we may capture images of you during the event.
To collect your personal information if you visit any HZL location as a visitor, such as a consultant or engineer.
For recruitment purposes, including assessing your suitability for career opportunities at HZL and inviting you to participate in recruitment process, we may process your personal information. In accordance with applicable law, if your consent is necessary for us to process or share your Personal Information and you choose not to give that consent, we may be unable to process your application effectively or at all.

We may share your personal information within our corporate group i.e. Vedanta Limited and with third parties involved in our business operations, as well as with your authorized representative, if required. Currently, we do not transfer any personal information outside the country. However, if such a transfer becomes necessary, we will inform you in advance.

We may also share your personal information in other relevant scenarios, including but not limited to the following:

With health or medical professionals, consultants, financial advisors, legal advisors, external auditors, insurers, and cloud service providers who support our business operations.
With regulatory bodies, government agencies, and law enforcement authorities as required by applicable laws, including those outside the country (if necessary).
